Lorraine Ali has moderated onstage interviews with notable music artists at SXSW’s Music and Film festival and as part of the Los Angeles Central Library’s Aloud Series. At the Los Angeles Times Book Festival, she’s interviewed authors on stage such as Carrie Brownstein (“Portlandia”).
She has been invited to speak about covering Muslim America and the Middle East at MIT, and asked to Columbia College and Iowa State University to discuss entertainment journalism. She’s also taken part in dozens of panels, including discussions at USC, UCLA and The Grammy Museum about the state of music and the relevance of criticism.
Overseas, Ali was invited to speak at the Arab Women’s Media conference in Amman, Jordan, appear on Saudi Arabia’s Al Ekhbariya network in 2010 and participate in the TedX Baghdad conference in Iraq in 2011.
